Although vehicle collisions can cause serious injuries and even claim lives, when a pedestrian is struck by a car it can be particularly dangerous. In the San Francisco area, hectic roads can spell disaster for those who are walking or riding a bicycle. Unfortunately, it is not uncommon to hear about yet another pedestrian accident in the Bay Area. When drivers and pedestrians take to the streets, it is important for them to be vigilant and aware of the risks at all times. A recent San Mateo accident, which took place on El Camino Real, claimed the life of a 58-year-old man. According to law enforcement officials, the man, who could have been homeless, was struck by two vehicles. After the incident occurred, authorities were able to talk with the drivers of both vehicles. Both drivers cooperated during the investigation. While one driver remained on the scene after the crash, the other was located later on. Following the accident, the road was shut down for over three hours. Sometimes, a pedestrian accident is caused by driver inattention, while other incidents occur due to poor visibility or other factors. Some pedestrians are struck in a crosswalk accident, while others are hit on the sidewalk. Regardless of the details surrounding each accident, the outcomes can be tragic and lead to significant problems for those involved.
